Marc Márquez wins his seventh World Championship

The Spanish rider is crowned MotoGP world champion for the seventh time, equaling Valentino Rossi’s titles. A historic season with Ducati that culminates in the most eagerly awaited comeback in motorcycling after years of injuries and adversity.

Six years after his last world title in 2019, Marc Márquez returns to the top of motorcycling. The Motegi circuit, where he had already been crowned champion in 2014, 2016, and 2018, once again witnessed the glory of the rider from Cervera. This time, however, the moment had a special flavor: he arrived on a Ducati, at the home of Honda, the brand that saw him grow but which he had to leave in order to win again.

Márquez has been crowned seven-time MotoGP champion 12 years after winning his first title. He was also 125cc and Moto2 world champion in 2010 and 2012 respectively, bringing his total number of world titles to nine.

It has been a 2,184-day wait, marked by the humerus fracture in Jerez in 2020 that changed his career forever. Nine months away from competition, relapses, diplopia problems, and the painful farewell to Honda were the obstacles the rider had to overcome. “If they stop your feet, wings will grow,” Márquez repeated to himself during these five difficult years. Today, those wings have taken him back to the top.

His time with the Gresini team alongside his brother Álex marked the beginning of his rebirth. There he tasted victory again, paving the way for what would be a dream season with Ducati.
